Dave's promotion to executive producer and executive creative director of Lucasfilm happens to be big news to the Star Wars fans. When Lucasfilm's website updated Dave's title card of The Mandalorian and Star Wars: The Clone Wars as executive creative director in May 2021, fans got excited to see that. They went to Twitter to congratulate Filoni on his big promotion.

A Twitter user named Okiro wrote, "Dave Filoni becoming Executive Creative Director is THE best thing that could have happened for Star Wars right now!"

"Dave Filoni was just promoted to Executive Creative Director at Lucasfilm. I believe he just has more oversight over all the stuff they're doing now. #StarWars," wrote another user.

However, little did the fans knew that the news of the promotion of Mt. Lebanon's native wasn't new. Actually, Filoni was already promoted in mid-2020, and the work was done very quietly, until now when the website was updated. When IGN contacted Lucasfilm for a comment, one representative agreed on the above statement as they said; 

Dave has been serving as Executive Producer / Executive Creative Director at Lucasfilm for quite some time now. We simply updated our website. Nothing has changed with his current and future projects. He is busier than ever in a galaxy far, far away!
