However, the romantic couple reunited their relationship when Aitchison joined Saracens in 2020 before both being selected for Simon Middleton's Red Roses team. Holly Aitchinson and Hannah Botterman Talks About Their Relationship

The world cup couple, Holly Aitchinson and Hannah Botterman, have been dating each other for two years now. And for the first time, they have opened up about their relationship struggles in the media. They recently said they reunited by 'fate' when they were both signed by Saracens and Simon Middleton's Red Roses team.

Meanwhile, Aitchinson will start Saturday's World Cup final with New Zealand. Talking about the couple's romance, Aitchinson said, 'We kept drifting apart and then meeting again. That was how it was the whole time.'

Speaking about the struggles with her sexuality as a teenager, Aitchinson continued,

"There was a lot of me that didn't want to be with a girl. I guess I just needed some time to process what I wanted to do." 

'Now I'm definitely more comfortable than I was. 

'It was probably a bigger thing for me at 17 than it is now sat here at 25.'

Opening up with Inside Line podcast, Botterman said, "It's a long, long story. It's not just we met, and we fell in love." Then she continued, "We met, we fell in love, and then broken heart. Holly probably had some demons she had to face, and I'm quite proud of her for going through that side of her life. I don't think it was particularly easy for her."

Hannah Botterman Ruled Out of World Cup

England will take on New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup final on Saturday. Aitchinson is set to start Saturday's World Cup final. Unfortunately, Botterman will cheer on her girlfriend from the sidelines due to a serious knee injury. 

Botterman was injured due to start the semi-final victory over Canada on Saturday but was forced to withdraw just hours before kick-off with knee trouble. While discussing their relationship on a podcast, Aitchinson spoke of her girlfriend's injury. 

Aitchinson said, 'She's still got someone who is in her corner. She's definitely someone the squad looks to for energy.' Apart from that, Helena Rowland is also out of the team playing in the World Cup final due to an injury.
