The famous Slovak YouTuber David Dobrik has garnered a lot of fame/attention due to his amazing video content and podcasting talents. However, in these recent times, he has been getting negative attention due to a video posted in November 2018.

The now-deleted video was titled "SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE PLAYED WITH FIRE!!" and featured Dobrik, the former Vlog Squad member, Dominykas Zeglaitis, and a college student named Hannah. And, even though there came no further news during that time, over two years later, in March 2021, news broke out through Insider, stating that during the making of the video, the college student was raped by Zeglaitis.

Later, the news was officially confirmed when David Dobrik posted a video on his YouTube channel and apologized for the huge mistake that happened on that day.

The Full Story Behind Dobrik’s Apology

One of the most heated topics related to David Dobrik and Dominykas Zeglaitis goes way back to when the two YouTubers used to make videos together and went by the group name of Vlog Squad (the group also included several other members).

A post shared by DAVID DOBRIK (@daviddobrik)

The topic was originated in November 2018 when the two former best friends made a video titled "SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE PLAYED WITH FIRE!!" alongside a college girl named Hannah. When the video got uploaded, it received massive views in no amount of time.

However, just after some days, the video was deleted by Dobrik. Afterward, there came no statement on why the video was deleted or anything related to the video. But, almost two and a half years later, on March 16, 2020, a huge rape allegation came to the doorsteps of Dobrik’s former friend, Zeglaitis.

The sexual allegation came straight from Hannah herself, and the news about it spread like fire after the news outlet, Insider, reported it. In the Insider’s report, it was mentioned that Hannah was drunk before making the video, was raped, and could not even consent. It was also stated, by Insider, that all of the alcohol was supplied by the Vlog Squad.

Dobrik’s Apology

After Insider’s news spread like fire, it was time for Debrik to give an official statement, and he did so on his video of March 17, 2021, titled “Let's talk.” But, to amuse everyone, the YouTuber didn’t talk much about the allegations made against Zeglaitis, and he had even turned off comments on the video.

Due to that, many people got angry, and the YouTuber’s fan following across all social media began declining. Later, on March 23, 2021, Dobrik uploaded another video titled “03/22/21.” Unlike in his previous video, he talked about different things in this video, including the allegations made against Zeglaitis.

At the very start of the video, Dobrik apologized for taking the sexual allegations made against Zeglaitis lightly. He also confirmed that the college was sexually assaulted and raped by Zeglaitis.

I want to start this video by saying I fully believe the woman who came out against Dom (Dominykas Zeglaitis) and said she was sexually assaulted and raped by him.

Likewise, in the latter part of the video, the Dispo app's former co-founder apologized for putting the college girl and her friends in such an environment and compromising all of their safety and values.

Moreover, in the 7 minutes 16 seconds long video, Dobrik also stated that he feels guilty for not reaching out to those women who had raised their voices and said that they were not comfortable during the videos' filming.

Furthermore, in the last part of the video, the YouTube star mentioned that he would be taking a break from all of his social media platforms for an indefinite period but would return soon.

Unfortunately, such statements and apologies didn’t favor Dobrik’s career as he lost a huge amount of fan following. Not only that, many of his sponsors and other companies cut ties with him, and even YouTube demonetized all of Dobrik’s YouTube channels.
