Gay Actor Leslie Jordan Passed Away Aged 67

As said earlier, the late gay actor Leslie Jordan was an inspiration to many people who are struggling to open up about their sexuality. So, the LGBTQ+ community is mourning the death of Jordan as he died aged 67 on October 24, 2022, following a car crash. 

Jordan's agent said it is suspected that the gay actor suffered a medical emergency at the wheel. He was reportedly driving to film scenes for FOX’s Call Me Kat and collided his BMW into a side of a building at Cahuenga Boulevard and Romaine Street in Hollywood. The Los Angeles Police Department assured that the accident occurred at around 9:30 am PT.  

Condolences poured in for Jordan as the day went on, from other drag queens to actors to activists to everyday LGBTQ folks. Moreover, many praised him for never shying out from a wrist flick.

Also, they lauded Jordan for centering his queerness unapologetically in his many parts and public appearances. In an interview on N.B.C.'s Meet the Press in 2012, Joe Biden attributed much of Americans' pivoting perspectives about the LGBTQ+ community at the time to the show. Biden said,

I take a look at when things really begin to change, is when the social culture changes. I think “Will and Grace” probably did more to educate the American public than almost anything anybody’s ever done so far. And I think — people fear that which is different.
